Absence [news]
I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm not really a loser in the photography and blogging department. I know it must seem that way, getting all started with the VPW and then disappearing for nearly 3 weeks. However, my Mother became ill on the 5th of July and we have spent all the time since taking care of her in the Hospital, then Hospice and finally the funeral yesterday. It's been a tumulutuous time and I definitely didn't get any photography done, but over the next few weeks I'll be (...)
The 4th [news]
Since it's the 4th and my family is planning on shooting off a ton of fireworks (ground based - that's all that is allowed here in Georgia), I'm going to set up and shoot shoot shoot and see how it goes!
I found this post on how to shoot fireworks at Digital Photography School and will be using this as my guide. It sure seems counter intuative to shoot at ISO 100 in the dark, but hey, what do I know? :) (...)

Fireworks [album]
Photos taken 7/4/2010 of our family fireworks show. We are in Georgia where it is only, technically, legal to use ground based fireworks. Shooting them was a challenge, but I got a few nice ones. I started out utilizing advice for shooting fireworks, but it was all aimed at arial shots and the techniques described didn't work for my situation. I was only about 15 feed from the point at which they were being launced so there was a lot more light and longer exposers resulted in extreme blow (...)
